Battle of the Teutoburg Forest

The Battle of the Teutoburg Forest in AD 9 is of particular significance today. The relevant Wikipedia entry states that this battle, "...describe as clades Variana (the Varian disaster) by Roman historians, took place...when an alliance of Germanic tribes ambushed and decisively destroyed three Roman legions and their auxiliaries, led by Publius Quinctilius Varus. The anti-Roman alliance was led by Arminius, who had acquired Roman citizenship and received a Roman military education, thus enabling him to personally deceive the Roman commander and foresee the Roman army's tactical responses. Despite several successful campaigns and raids by the Roman army in the years after the battle, they never again attempted to conquer Germanic territory east of the Rhine River. The Germanic victory against the Roman legions in the Teutoburg forest had far-reaching effects on the subsequent history of both the ancient Germanic peoples and on the Roman Empire. Modern historians have regarded Arminius' victory as 'Rome's greatest defeat' and one of the most decisive battles in history."

The reason why this battle is of significance today is because President Barack Hussein Obama, who is not a quarter of the man that Augustus Caesar was, is making the same mistakes and sending our military into areas where eventually the enemy will prove overwhelming. Because he has demonstrated weakness throughout his years in office, the Muslims, the Russians and the Chinese are each embolden. The President has reacted (not responded) by sending destroyers into the Black Sea, (Russia's back yard swimming pool), by ordering Special Forces into Syria (where Russian air force jets are supporting the currently installed Syrian regime), and by ordering air craft carriers into the South China Sea where Chinese ballistic missile ranges exceed that of the jets aboard the carrier. Sooner or later, hubris will bring its own punishment as it had to Augustus Caesar. This is of particular note given that Russian Orthodox clergy pray for God's protection over Russian troops in Syria as Barack Hussein Obama defies God though the infanticide of the unborn and the sanctification of the filth of sterile sexual perversion. Sooner or later the United States will lose a nuclear powered aircraft carrier or submarine, or some other vital and irreplaceable asset. Then will the words of Hosea 8:7 come to pass: "For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind..." God is a gentleman; He will not stay where He is unwanted. Barack Hussein Obama by his idolatry and immorality has asked God to leave, and so God shall. As ironic as it is, former KGB agent Vladimir Putin asks God to come and protect his troops, and so God shall.

I have decided to restart my blog after a long period of disuse, and have changed my pseudonym to Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus. The Wikipedia entry on him describes this man as a "...Roman aristocrat and statesman whose service as consul in 460 BC and dictator in 458 BC and 439 BC made him a model of civic virtue. Cincinnatus was regarded by the Romans, especially the aristocratic patrician class, as one of the heroes of early Rome and as a model of Roman virtue and simplicity. He was a persistent opponent of the plebeians. When his son, Caeso Quinctius, was convicted and condemned to death, Cincinnatus was forced to live in humble circumstances, working on his own small farm, until an invasion caused him to be called to serve Rome as dictator, an office which he resigned two weeks later, after completing his task of defeating the rival tribes of the Aequians, Sabines, and Volscians. His immediate resignation of his near-absolute authority with the end of the crisis has often been cited as an example of outstanding leadership, service to the greater good, civic virtue, lack of personal ambition, and modesty. As a result, he has inspired a number of organizations and other entities, many of which are named in his honor."

In today's post modern, neo-pagan society we need more men like this. Instead, in our complacency we elect professional politicians with no term limits and as a result continue to do the same things over and over again while expecting different results which never materialize. Virtue, honor, modesty, selflessness and nobility have been replaced with political correctness, a facade of social justice, a perversion of the common good, and an intolerable and untenable peace at any price as our enemies - our Aequians, Sabines and Volscians - the Russians, the Chinese and the Muslims - gather against us. Sadly, there is no Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus whom we may recall to duty to save us. We have, as the prophet Hosea said so long ago, sown the whirlwind which we shall now receive.
